A new educational institution, Great Standard Montessori School has been established and commissioned on Tuesday in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital,aimed to add value to academic in the country and beyond
Penpushing reports that the commissioning of 2 story-building school with aircondition classrooms and conducive environment located in Adehun community along rounder-Ayetoro road of the ancient town had in attendance number of notable educationists, stakeholders, journalists, members of various professional bodies and corporate organisations among others
The Vice Chancellor of Crescent University Abeokuta, Prof Ibrahim Gbajabiamila at the event in his goodwill message commended the couple who established the school, noting and expressing optimism that the school is established to add value to education in the country
“I want to commend the proprietor and proprietress of the school for providing conducive atmosphere and environment for this academic institution, which is to add value to education in the country and beyond”, Gbajabiamila emphasised
Penpushing further reports that Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Education, Mrs Ronke Soyombo represented by Director Primary Education, Ministry of Education, Mrs Adesola Onayiga commended initiative of the school owners, and assured that government will support the project
“You will enjoy state government support. This initiative is no doubt to support government efforts in providing quality and qualitative education. We commend this laudable initiative”, the special adviser emphasised
Penpushing also reports that Chairman, Board of School, Chief Tiwalade Akingbade in his welcome speech noted that many people may be amazed at him, what could have inspired him to divest in education and not hotel business like others.
“There is no magic. When I look back I wonder why Allah has chosen me for success despite my background. Sometimes, at my inner recess, I pondered who gave me the motivation to know education is important and cherish it like there’s no other valuables despite my growing up”
“If there is anything I must do since Allah has moderately blessed me, I must complement those who established schools that I attended; those who provisioned that I might have education.We are not Islamic cleric, but we just demonstrated what informed and motivated us to make this widow’s contribution to education”.
“We must say here too this new addition to education system is not faith based school. It’s a secular coeducation school, where the child will grow toward becoming a well-rounded student, who feels that he or she can be effective and have the capacity to learn, and where this can be accomplished by meeting the physical, mental, emotional and mostly intellectual needs of each child”.
“Our learning environment will foster building trust and communication and will develop the tools to grow a strong sense of self. In this new school, we are building a unique standard that will enable our pupils learn that the differences we share are what make us special and that everyone whether young or old, rich or poor”
“Let me assure the parents of our would-be children that in this GSM, we will respond to each child’s specific needs. We will take time to get to know all our children as individuals. They will know that we are here for them, have time for them and will always be here to listen to them.
“Let me inform you that my personal philosophy is that I believe early childhood education has three components. First of all, I believe it begins with creating a safe and caring atmosphere for young children to learn (we have done that here). Secondly, I place a value on teaching a child developmentally appropriate practices (I confess, we have provisions for that from the gate of GSM)”.
“Finally, I believe the child should be given instruction on the child’s family culture, values, beliefs or expectations to make their experiences meaningful through family involvement. I have a goal to establish a learning competence within each child by providing these factors. I assure our guests and the parents of our would-be children that all the façtors have been put in place here”
Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, GSM is in the world of its standard, where early school years are considered as the most significant in a child’s life as they lay the foundation for future education.
