The Ogun State Governorship Candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC) ahead of 2027 poll Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola popularly called Yayi has threatened a legal action against a factional governorship candidate of the party, Abayomi Hunye and Ambassador Folake Marcus-Bello over remarks that he is not an authentic indigene of Yewa in Ogun State.
Penpushing reports that Yayi gave the threat through his media aide, Chief Kayode Odunaro in a statement to fault the claims of the duo, and issued a 24-hour ultimatum to retract the statement credited to them else a libel suite will be preferred against them
The Senator representing Ogun West at the national assembly equally challenged Hunye and Marcus-Bello to produce verifiable evidence of their claims or prepare to defend their assertions in court, describing their claims as assertive and outrageous lies.
” I watched in utter disbelief as these characters utter assertive and outrageous lies about my origin without any proof. One falsely claimed on TV that I am from Ekiti and when asked where exactly went moronically blank. The other was lying about the locations of the graves of my parents. Enough is enough. They should produce their evidence in 24 hours or be ready for my lawsuits”, Adeola declared
Penpushing further reports that the statement said the origin controversy is a recycled propaganda tactic previously deployed during the 2023 National Assembly elections, aimed at halting Yayi’s growing momentum for the 2027 Ogun State governorship race.

Penpushing also reports that Hunye in a counter-statement issued hours later stated that he welcomed the prospect of a legal battle, pointing out that the courtroom remains the ultimate arena to test the authenticity of claims regarding candidate eligibility and ancestral roots.
‘We want to state categorically that we welcome the threat of a lawsuit with open arms. We are more than ready to meet Senator Adeola in a court of competent jurisdiction. The issue of a candidate’s origin and eligibility is a matter of constitutional concern. Truth is an absolute defence against libel”, Hunye emphaised.
Penpushing reports that Hunye claimed that legal proceedings surrounding the matter were already underway, assuring the electorate that robust and verifiable documentary evidence regarding Yayi’s alleged ancestry would be presented before the court.
