A 25-year old woman, Maimuna Wadaji, a resident of Rungumau village in Dutse Local Government of Jigawa State has set herself ablaze in protest against her husband’s plan to remarry his former wife.
Penpushing reports that, the jealous woman on receiving the information of her husband’s plan to remarry the woman he divorced years back doused herself with petrol and lit a fire in a suicide attempt.
The woman, who was engulfed in fire, thereafter ran out of their house and started shouting for help from other neighbours and residents who managed to quench the fire, after serious burns she sustained
Penpushing further reports that, the Jigawa State Police Command Public Relations Officer, .Lawan Adam, confirmed the incident, adding that the victim as at the time of filing this report was receiving treatment at Rasheed Shekoni Teaching Hospital in Dutse
.The police spokesperson affirmed that the incident occurred after the victim got information of her husband’s plan to remarry the woman he divorced years back, adding that she sustained burns and has been hospitalized
