A full-loaded trailer on Tuesday catches fire within the axis of the proposed new Kara Market along Lagos-Ibadan expressway with a total number of 13 vehicles consumed in the incident,as well as two persons confirmed dead .
Penpushing reports that Public Relations Officer of the Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi in a statement said, the fire incident occurred around 04:00hrs, adding that affected vehicles include; 6 Tankers (5 loaded with PMS and 1 loaded with Diesel), 2 Gas laden tankers, 3 Trucks (1 loaded with Fish and 2 cars.
.The agency spokesman said the full-loaded trailer fell on an ensuing gridlock and affected a tanker loaded with fuel in the traffic, and suddenly burst into flames affecting 7 other trucks and 2 cars in the process.
‘Motorists moving inbound Lagos are hereby advised to go through Saapade-Ode/Remo-Iperu-Sagamu to relink Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, also vehicles moving inbound Ibadan should also go through Sagamu-Iperu-Ode/Remo-Saapade to relink Lagos-Ibadan expressway’, he said.
Penpushing further reports that, he said as at the time of filing this report, that the agency officials, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Fire Service have commenced rescue operation
‘The TRACE hereby wishes to regret any inconveniences that may have occurred as a result of this incident, therefore drivers are implored to please maintain lane disciple, so as not worsen the traffic situation’, Akinbiyi said.
