The traditional ruler of Eruwa Samuel Adegbola sacked on November 29, 2019 on the order of the Supreme Court of Nigeria was on Thursday presented a Certificate of Appointment and Staff of Office as new monarch of the town.

Penpushing reports that Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde had on Tuesday approved the reappointment of Adegbola as the traditional ruler of Eruwaland, and subsequently presented him certificate

The Governor in his speech at the ceremony pointed out that the Eruwa kingship issue had lingered since 2019, leaving the town without a traditional ruler, recalling that Adegbola had reigned for 21 years before the Supreme Court judgment that sacked him.

Penpushing further reports that Makinde explained that the new selection process, put in place by the kingmakers of Eruwa to fill the vacant stool, unanimously reselected Adegbola from the Akalako ruling house.

The Governor declared that as the state helmsman he, only had to endorse the kingmakers’ nomination without interference, stressing that the roles of traditional rulers could not be overemphasized.

Penpushing also reports that Makinde said traditional rulers are closer to the people, hence, they are known to play vital roles in securing and preserving culture in their respective domains, pledging that his administration would continue to support and protect the traditional institution in the state.

The traditional ruler of Eruwa, an ancient town and the headquarters of Ibarapa East Local Government Area of Oyo State in his acceptance speech promised to unite all his subjects to ensure that the people of the town live together harmoniously, and that he would work towards the growth and progress of the ancient town and Ibarapa land in general.
