The traditional ruler of Akinale in Owu Kingdom of Egbaland, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye will remained a fulfilled man on earth, having re-united with his primary school teacher after 70 years he left school and lost contact with the teacher.

Penpushing reports the journalist turn monarch, known as Okesooto as a pupil,  under the tutelage of  Pa Sunday Popooola alongside about 20 children of different ages being led through a distance of about three kilometers to attend school was excited over the re-union

The royal father recalled that, Popoola was a resident teacher, adding that himself and other peers trekked through a bush pathway from Asoore village to the African Central School, Meesan in Ado-Odo Local Government accompanied by the teacher.

Penpushing further reports that, since he left school in 1950  he and the former teacher never crossed each other again, until Sunday October 4, 2021 when they both met at the African Church Cathedral, Ita Iyalode, Owu  Abeoluta during the thanksgiving service for the 2021 Odun Omo Olowu

The excited traditional ruler declared that  Popoola was a dutiful, vibrant teacher who escorted the pupils to and from School in Meesan in 1950,stressing that his meeting him after over 70 years of separation by vicissitudes of life, was as fateful, joyful and praiseworthy.

“Ogun omode kolesere  f’ogun odun” (a collection of young playmates cannot remain unseparated in life) saya a native idiom. The wise saying however could not explain that fate might still bring some or all the separated young playmates together one day’,Ogunleye noted.

‘Young lad, Okesooto, now known and called Olufemi Ogunleye, was among about 20 children of different ages being led through a distance of about three kilometres Bush pathway from Asoore village to the African Central School, Meesan in Ado-Odo Local Government by a resident Teacher, Mr. Sunday Popoola, in the employment of the African Church Mission  Egba District  Abeokuta’, he recalled

‘Mr Popoola was a dutiful, vibrant and your teacher, escorting the pupils to and from school in Meesan in 1950 when Okespoto was a pupil at the school. Both teacher and pupil since 1950 never crossed each other again until Sunday October 4, 2021 when they both met at the African Church Cathedral, Ita Iyalode, Owu Abeoluta during the thanks giving service for the 2021 Odun Omo Olowu’, he explained

Penpushing also reports that, Ogunleye, a veteran journalist, public relations icon and lawyer could not hide his joy when he sighted his former teacher, hugged him and both gave thanks to God for graceful ageing and meeting again.

The traditional, days after took time to pay the former teacher a visit at his residence located at Rokale Compound, Owu, Ogbe, Abeokuta last Sunday, and thanked God profusely for sparing lives of two of them to meet again after over seven decades
