Seven killed on Lagos-Ibadan expressway auto crash

Barely 48 hours after 10 persons were killed on Lagos-Ibadan expressway, another auto crash which involved two vehicles, a Mazda bus with registration number LSR696XS and Truck with registration number T-4889LA on Friday claimed lives of seven people

Penpushing reports that, the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Command, Florence Okpe who confirmed the sad incident said sixteen people were involved.

The Corps spokesperson disclosed that the accident occurred about a stone throw to the office of the Federal Road Safety Corps ( FRSC) in Ogumakin,  Kilometre 27 axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

‘The crash which occurred at about 1940HRS .    02   vehicles were involved  with registration numbers LSR696XS a MAZDA BUS and T-4889LA TRUCK  A total number of 16 persons were  involved   which comprises of (15 male adult and 01 female   adult) .

‘Number of people injured were  05 male adult  and number killed were 07 ( 01female  adult and 06 male adult)  The injured victims were taken to Victory HOSPITAL   Ogere for Medical treatment, while the dead bodies were deposited at FOS  morgue Ipara’, Okpe said

Penpushing further reports that, the Superintendent Route Commander said, the suspected causes of the crash were excessive speed which led to loss of control on the part of the Mazda bus and rammed into the moving truck.

The Sector Commander Ahmed Umar described the crash as avoidable act, stressing that if caution was put in place, using common sense speed limit especially as it was raining, just as he reiterated on speed violation among motorists  and advised motorists to drive defensively

Penpushing also reports that, Umar commiserated with the family of the crash victims and also enjoined them to contact the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Command in Ogunmakin area of  Ogun State  for details of the crash and reclaim the properties of the victims recovered  from the scene of the crash
