Former Nigerian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Ambassador Sarafadeen Tunji Ishola, is to chair the 18th Annual Independence Day Lecture of the Ogun State chapter of The Muslim Congress (TMC).

Penpushing reports that a statement by the congress said Sarafa agreed to physically present at the lecture during a courtesy visit to him by leadership of the body, explaining that the lecture is scheduled to hold on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the Ake Palace Pavilion, Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.

The statement added that he underscored the importance of Muslims’ active involvement in governance and national development, and commended the congress for its consistent contributions to Nigeria’s spiritual, social, and economic growth.

Penpushing further reports that Isola stressed that Muslim participation in politics was no longer optional, drawing lessons from Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) transformative role in building society.

The former Minister of Mines and Steel equallly expressed readiness to partner with The Muslim Congress (TMC) in promoting initiatives that would advance Ogun State and the nation at large.

Penpushing  also reports that the Waali of the congress, Dr. Abdulrazaq Ogunmoye, earlier in his speech, explained that the Independence Lecture has, for nearly two decades, served as a platform for raising critical national issues, setting public agenda, and recommending solutions to the country’s challenges.

The Waali praised  Ishola’s distinguished record in public service, describing him as a fitting choice to chair the historic lecture, adding that the event would feature prominent personalities.

Penpushing reports that he disclosed that the personalities include the Founder and Director of the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), Professor Isaq Akintola; former Ogun State Deputy Governor, Senator Adegbenga Sefiu Kaka.

The congress boss added that others are Sheikh Abdul Hafeez Ariremako (Director of Al-Qurraa Schools, Ibadan), Sheikh Abdul Hafeez Ariremako; Secretary General of the Ogun State Muslim Council (OMC), Alhaji Kamaldeen Akintude; Hon. Lukmon Olajide Atobatele ; as well as royal fathers, captains of industry, academics, and other eminent Muslim leaders within and outside the state.
