The Egbaland Humanitarian and Development Council (EHDC) have concluded arrangement for its maiden edition of humanitarian gestures, with provision of free eye screening and offer of free glasses to students.

Penpushing reports that, Director General of the Development, Aare Jide Taiwo made this known in a statement, explaining that the gesture is part of the  major focus of  the council policy on health and education.

The statement added that the event is scheduled to hold on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the Centenary Hall, Ake, Abeokuta, stressing that the targeted beneficiaries are students whose age ranged between 10 and 22 years.

Penpushing further reports that the statement explained that the programme is part of package  to celebrate the Lisabi Anniversary, through what is tagged ,’Jigi Alake Initiative’, adding that the Oosi of Egbaland, Chief Olabode Mustapha  is the Chairman of the organization.

‘Egbaland Humanitarian and Development Council(EHDC) will be holding a free eye screening and free eye glasses to students age 10 to 22 years old at the centenary hall on Saturday 19th February,2022 to celebrate the Lisabi Anniversary through  her Jigi Alake initiative of  EHDC’, the statement said

Penpushing also reports that, Egbaland Humanitarian and Development Council (EHDC) is a registered non-political, non- partisan organisation established for the purpose of development in Egbaland with first four years focus on Health and Education.

The statement emphasized that, education provides a good future in all societies, which is a good legacy for the youths, stressing that health is wealth and that  all needed good and quality health care as  young and old people so as to continue to contribute to our families and Egbaland.

Penpushing reports that, the Egba people are a subgroup of the Yoruba people, an ethnic group of South Western Nigeria, a majority of whom are from the central Senatorial part of Ogun State in Abeokuta.

The statement explained that, Ogun Central Senatorial District comprises six local government areas in Ogun State: Abeokuta North, Abeokuta South, Ewekoro, Ifo, Obafemi Owode and Odeda local governments.

Penpushing further reports that, the mission statement and focus has it that the council annual educational goal is to  give tuition fees scholarships to  Egba youths so that they can have quality education and a better tomorrow, adding that with this they’ll be able to contribute their quota to the upliftment  of Egbaland.

The statement added that, health mission annually  focuses on free medi-care service on diabetes, high blood pressure and eyes wherein all participants are given free drugs and eye glasses as required and  pay for the surgery fees of those whose eyes require glaucoma and cataract surgery.

Penpushing also reports that, operations at the development council are managed by a credible Board of Directors headed by a Chairman, Vice Chairman and Director General, adding that the grand patron is His Imperial Majesty, Oba. Adedotun Gbadebo, (Alake  and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland).

The statement disclosed that the patrons are  Oba Adedapo Tejuoso (Osile Okeona Egba), Oba Adesanya Dosumu (Olowu of Owu), Oba BabaJide Bakare(Agura of Gbagura),while Board of Directors include: High Chief Bode Mustapha (Chairman) and High Chief Tosin Fadare(Vice Chairman),

Penpushing reports that others are Aare Jide Taiwo, Chief Mrs. Omolola Abiola-Edewor, Prince Adesegun Ajibola,(SAN),Mrs. Anthonia Akinlawon,(SAN) and Prince. Yemi Shodimu, while the group is  open to all Egba sons, daughters and corporate  organisations in Nigeria and Diaspora, as well as those who had benefited from Egbaland but are not indigenes.
