Police arrest 2,735 suspected criminals within six months in Ogun State

The Ogun State Police Command has disclosed that it has arrested 2,735 suspects within last six months, for various offences which include: armed robbery, kidnapping, rape and cultism across the state in the last six months.

Penpushing reports that, Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun  made this disclosure while parading about 45 suspects at the command’s headquarters, Eleweran Abeokuta, adding that in the course of the police operations number of exhibits which include 139 arms and ammunitions, 31 vehicles were recovered.

The police boss further disclosed that 139 suspects were currently  undergoing prosecution in courts across the state, with  45 suspects already convicted and serving various sentences.

“From July 23, 2020 to date, the command arrested a total number 113 armed robbery suspects, 227 suspected cultists, 24 suspected kidnappers, 47 rape suspects, and 2324 persons suspected of other offenses.

“Also, during the period, 14 armed robbery suspects were shot dead while engaging our men in gun duel. The Command also recovered 57 various types of  firearms, 82 different types  ammunitions and 31 vehicles. 1,139 suspects are undergoing prosecution in courts across the state while 45 suspects have been convicted and serving various sentences” he added

Penpushing further reports that, Ajogun said the recovered stolen properties including vehicles worth the sum of N190million, just as he assured residents that the command would not rest on its oars to rid the state of crime and criminality.
