The remains of Oreoluwa Fatinoye who was abducted and thrown into a river along Adigbe-Obada area of Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital by suspected arsonist who earlier murdered his parents were on Tuesday committed to mother earth.

Penpushing reports that the corpse of the boy was in the early hours of Tuesday discovered in the Ogun river by fishermen who had gone for fishing, and quickly alerted the authorities, and thereafter a police team led by Area Commander raced to the scene to retrieve the corpse.

The corpse of the innocent Oreoluwa was later conveyed in a police pick up van to State Hospital Ijaiye, Abeokuta, for necessary medical procedures, before the remains were released to the family for final burial

Penpushing further reports that a brief service was conducted by the church at the cemetery situated along Kobape-Siun dual carriage road in Abeokuta, before the final interment which was witnessed by families, friends and symphatizers of the deceased family.

The parents of the boy, Kehinde Fatinoye and Bukonla were murdered and their house at Government Reservation Area (GRA) on New Year day and set ablaze by suspected arsonists, while the son was abducted.

Penpushing also reports that Kehinde Fatinoye was a staff of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), while Bukonla Fatinoye was a staffer of the Federal University of Agriculture (FUNNAB), Abeokuta before their untimely death.

The couple were also buried on Monday at Lantoro Cemetery in Abeokuta, after a church service held at Christ Anglican Church, Iporo Ake, Abeokuta, which had in attendance hundreds of symphatizers who could not hold back tears

Penpushing reports that the Ogun State Police Command, Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, however, said the police have arrested a suspect in the gruesome murder of the couple adding that an investigation was ongoing to unravel the killers and their motive, affirming that it was a case of suspected assassination.

“The incident happened after 12 in the morning. It is true that a couple was killed and set ablaze at their residence in Abeokuta, shortly after they returned from Cross over Service. This is a clear case of assassination and we are not leaving any stone unturned to unravel those behind the killings. One person has been arrested by our operatives in connection to the incident. We will get to the root of the matter, as investigation has since begun’, Oyeyemi said.
