A gang of gunmen in military uniforms have invaded the Divisional Police Headquarters in Ogijo town located in Sagamu local government area of Ogun State and set the station ablaze,as well as setting some suspects in detention free.

Penpushing reports that the “military men” stormed the police station at around 6pm on Wednesday and immediately launched a violent attack, which caused panic situation, as many people in the neighbourhood were  running helter-skelter for safety of their lives.

The attackers who came with tricycle known as Keke Marwa, during the violent operations allegedly inflicted injuries on some police, set ablaze  motorcycles, three AK 47 riffles, a Makarov pistol, two patrol vehicles,an armour personal carrier and computers laptops electronics among others before forcefully setting free the suspects in the cell.
Penpushing further reports that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) has condemned the attack in totality, and  the needless burning, stealing and destruction of police properties.
The committe in a statement by its National Chairman, Alhaji Mogaji Olaniyan, affirmed that  a source, said those involved were well dressed in military uniform and armed with sophisticated weapons with ability to handle same, calling on the leadership of respective government security agencies to as a matter of urgency, put drastic measures in place to checkmate this unpleasant and highly disturbing occurrences.
“We do not think anyone, no matter how highly placed should ignore the principles of due diligence before resorting to destructive actions against innocent police officers working day and night to safeguard our internal security which includes freinds and family members of our vibrant soldiers, whenever they are away protecting us against external aggression(s)”, Olaniyan said
“Our security agents across the country need to urgently jettison the needless battle of supremacy which usually results into various destructive, disgraceful and nauseating fracas between members of different government security agencies and embrace the popular esprit de corps ideology in a show of mutual respect for the sacrificial roles being played by all.
“According to the words of wisdom which says a house divided against itself can not stand. It is dangerous for us as a nation to continue with the ongoing trend of supremacy battles between our security agents when in actual fact, such energies are supposed to be jointly utilized against criminals and enemies of our dear nation”, he emphasized
The National Chairman, noted that no government security agency can survive without the people and as such, burning of police stations built by the people through community efforts and destruction of items bought with taxpayers money are devilish acts which we must desist from.

“As a bridged between the police and the community, the PCRC will continue to partner with the Nigeria Police, the community and other sister security agencies to ensure that security of lives and properties of all Nigerians is prioritised above unholy supremacy battles”, the statement stressed
Penpushing also reports that when contacted the Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the incident, but yet to provide full details of the incident as at the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, in the same vein as at the time of filing this report frantic efforts to get the military authorities for reaction proved abortive
