The Ogun West Stakeholders have mourned demised of General Tunji Olurin who died early Saturday at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital(LUTH), describing the loss as depleteting the socio-political leadership of the zone
Penpushing reports that, Coordinator of the Forum, Dr Yemisi Bamgbose in a statement pointed out that, the deceased lived an honest and disciplined life without blemish as a military officer and as chief executive officer of two States of the Old Oyo and Ekiti.
‘The death of General Adetunji Idowu Olurin has depleted the socio-political leadership of the Ogun-West Senatorial District in particular and Ogun-State in general.General Olurin lived an honest and disciplined life without blemish as a military officer and as chief executive officer of two States of the Old Oyo and Ekiti’.
Penpushing further reports that, the statement said Olurin made the Ogun state people proud as a leader which was a good reference point in his chosen military career as an achiever and a disciplined officer that earned Nigeria great respect in the comity of nations based on his superlative performance as the ECOMONG Commander.
‘General Olurin is reputed among the officers and men of the Nigerian army as the best Chief of Army Staff Nigeria never had. The entire Ogun-West has indeed lost a rare gem, a primus inter paris and a leading light’, Bamgbose wrote.
‘We commiserate with His Royal Majesty.,the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewa ,the entire Olurin dynasty and the people of Ogun-West on this colossal loss. May the soul of General Adetunji Idowu Olurin rest in perfect peace’, the statement reads.
Penpushing also reports that, in similar vein, Senator Solomon Adeola, in his own condolence expressed shock and sadness at the demise of Olurin describing the passing away of the famous army general as a huge loss not only to his people in Ilaro, Yewaland and Ogun state but indeed a great loss to Nigeria and the international community.
“General Olurin was a true patriot, a nationalist that sacrificed much not only for the unity of Nigeria but peace and security in the West Africa sub region and Africa continent. His expertise in security and administration will be sorely missed” the senator stated.
The senator who is the chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance prayed for the peaceful repose of the soul of the retired military general and fortitude for the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss of a dearly beloved.
