The League of Veteran Journalists, Ogun State Chapter has waded into the fallout of administrative lapses recorded by  Ogun State Television(OGTV) , in the recent recorded broadcast of the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun

Penpushing reports that, the Chairman of the league, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye in a letter to the Governor on the suspension of some staff of the station, over the ugly development, passionately begged the Governor to temper justice with mercy.

The veteran journalists in the letter, admitted that the administrative errors on part of the staff were uncalled for, but, however, pleaded with the Governor to see the alleged affected staff as first offenders, who can still turn a new leaf

‘I write  on behalf of the League of Veteran Journalists, Ogun State Chapter  to wade into the fallout of administrative lapses recorded by  Ogun State Television(OGTV) , in your recent recorded broadcast, which no doubt is uncalled for’, Ogunleye wrote the Governor.

Penpushing further reports that, the league explained that having reviewed the lapses and errors associated with the recordings, and as professionals, the body also faulted the misconduct of the alleged officials, and also not against the panel set up by the government

‘Your Excellency, having reviewed the lapses and errors associated with the recordings, as professionals we also faulted the professional errors committed by the staff, and not against the panel set up by the government’.

‘Sir, as elders in the profession we took it as our responsibility to passionately appealed to you to temper justice with mercy, particularly for those being on suspension for months over the incident’, the letter reads.

‘Your Excellency, as Yoruba adage says,’Omode ki mo eko je, ko ma ra lowo’, we want to beg you, to consider their errors and lapses as unfortunate, and please avoid a drastic measure as punishment, but  a warning will be better at this point as first offenders’.

‘The Executive Governor, please sir, we agreed that the matter cannot be left in abeyance. They can be warned, as we are concern about the suspended workers, who have not been receiving salary for months, even when salary was coming regularly, it has not being easy’

‘They are suffering even when salary is not enough. We want to appeal to you to temper justice with mercy. Your Excellency, please forgive and forget, as you always say, forgiveness is one of the traits of your late father’, Ogunleye stated
