Oba Matemilola Foundation holds free medical outreach to elderly

The Olowu of Kingdom, Oba Saka Matemilola Foundation on Friday organized medical outreach to the elderly people in the kingdom and environs, providing free medical services and available drugs for them.

Penpushing reports that the medical outreach which is the second edition was held at Olowu palace, located in Ago-Owu area of Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital, with hundreds of the aged comprising both male and females as beneficiaries.

The well attended event also featured dancing competitions among the elderly, who displayed their dancing skills in recalling their youthful days, while winners in both male and female categories went home with cash gift.

Penpushing further reports that the Chairperson of the Foundation, Olori Khadijat Matemilola in her welcome speech explained that the programme was designed for the aged in providing opportunities to know their health status.

The Queen added that part of medical services for the aged at the outreach include check on their blood sugar level, blood pressure and eyes among others, stressing that the event was the second edition, with assurance that it will be a regular programme.

Penpushing also reports that Matemilola emphasized that the foundation is much interested in the well being of the aged, adding that the exercise is not limited to Owu kingdom, but extended to other neighbouring communities.

The Erelu Gbobaniyi of Owu Kingdom, Alhaja Ramotalai Ajetumobi who was one of the beneficiaries in an interview with Penpushing Media declared that the gesture was highly commendable and showered prayers on the organisers.

Penpushing reports thatthe 74- year- old woman expressed optimism that with the project initiated by the foundation, Owu community will continue to grow positively, affirming that from her findings the gesture was equally extended to other communities.

‘This is a good project. I need to commend the foundation and the initiator. This is unique and unprecedented. Owu will continue to grow. The programme should be a continuous, I also find out that the gesture was also extended to the younger ones’, she stated.

Penpushing further reports that a male beneficiary, Yaya Bolaji while reacting emphasized that it was a nice and good programme, adding that it encourages the aged to know what to be done medically for longetivity.

The 73-year-old expressed appreciation to Oba Matemilola foundation and Olori, who is the chairperson for deeming it fit in showing concern towards the health and welfare of the elderly people in the society, emphasizing that the project was commendable.

Penpushing also reports that similarly, Seriki Iyalode Owu, Kudirat Sunmonu declared that she loves the programme which provided platform for the aged, to undergo medical examinations, which made it possible for them to know true and correct positions of their health status.

The 80-year-old woman said it was glaring that the traditional ruler of the kingdom with his foundation did not neglect the aged, and prayed that God will continue to bless the foundation and all those behind it.

‘This is very interesting; I love it and I also appreciate Kabiyesi for establishing the foundation. I commended the Olori, as the chairperson. She does not neglect the elderly. She is concern about welfare of the elderly. God will continue to raise her. She will also grow old’, Sunmonu added

Penpushing reports that another male beneficiary, Alhaji Fasiu Ajetumobi in his remarks in an interview stated that the project was a sign of positive development in Owu and environs, and commended the foundation.

‘It is a sign of development in Owu. It is a good project, and it should be regular exercise, and am calling on other foundations to emulate the gestures, as being offered by Oba Matemilola foundation’, Ajetumobi emphasized.

Penpushing further reports notable dignitaries at the events include: Chief (Mrs) Mubo Obimakinde(Otun Iyalode Owu Kingdom), Mrs Stephaine Ayo-Akinyemi(Chief Executive Officer, Tranquility Convalescent Home), Folasade Ganiya Agboola(former Deputy Governorship Candidate in Ogun State), Alhaji(Chief) Abdullateef Oseni(Obamaja Owu) and Prince Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji(Founder Penpushing Media)
