The Governors of the six South-West States in Nigeria in consent with the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN) have agreed to ban night and underage grazing in the region with immediate effect.
Penpushing reports that decision was reached as contained in a communiqué issued at the end of their meeting held on Monday in Akure, the Ondo State Capital, also emphasized that occupation of forest reserves is illegal.
“Night grazing should be banned henceforth. Under age herding is inimical to security and hence be banned. Occupation of State Forest Reserves illegally is condemned”, the communiqué declared
Penpushing further reports that, was the fallout of incessant alleged attack by suspected Fulani Herdsmen in Ondo and Oyo States, which led to maiming and killings of innocent residents of the communities in the two states
The Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, it is recalled have issued out seven day ultimatum to the Fulani herdsmen to vacate all forest reserves, while in similar vein, a local warlord in Oyo State, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly called ‘Sunday Igboho’ led residents to chase out members of a Fulani community in Igangan over allegations that they harbour criminals.
