The Nigeria High Commission in London has been shut as two of  the staffers  tested positive for coronavirus after a meeting at the Home Office, hence, the authorities also resolved to adhere strictly to the guidelines and protocols to avoid spread of the virus

Penpushing reports that, a statement by the commission said the Head of Immigration section and two other official went for a meeting at the Home Office, adding that at the entrance, coronavirus test was administered on them and one of them tested positive for the virus.

The statement added that, the affected officials were immediately isolated while the other officials, who tested negative were  also isolate for the next 10 days, adding that in response. to this challenge the mission embarked on testing all officials of the mission, after which another official of the mission tested positive.

‘This afternoon the Head of Immigration section and two other official went for a meeting at the home office. At the entrance, Covid test was administered on them and one of them tested positive for Covid-19’, the statement reads.

‘The affected officers immediately isolated while the other officials, who tested negative will also isolate for the next 10 days. In response to this challenge the mission embarked on testing all officials of the mission, after which another official of the mission tested positive;, the statement added.

Penpushing further reports that, the commission explained that, in line with coronavirus registration and the need to adhere to the rules and regulation of the host country,  the mission will close down for the next 10 days.

The statement added that, this was  in order to observe the mandatory isolation of those who were in conduct with the affected officials, while the commission appealed to the general public on the conveniences the closure might caused.

‘In line with Covid-19 registration and the need to adhere to the rules and regulation of the host country,  the mission will close down for the next 10 days,  in order to observe the mandatory isolation of those who were in conduct with the affected officials. While the high Commission regrets any inconvenience that this may have caused, we solicit the cooperation of the general public.’

Penpushing also reports that, when contacted on phone, the Nigerian Ambassador in the country, Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Ishola confirmed the development, but explained that he tested negative when submitted himself for the test
