Iyalode Yorubaland, Lawson mourns Alaafin

The Iyalode of Yorubaland, Iyalode Alaba Lawson has mourned demise of Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, who joined his ancestors on late hours of Friday at Afe Babalola Teaching Hospital, Ekiti after a brief illness.

Penpushing  reports that, Lawson who was one of the first early  caller at the palace in a condolence message lamented the lost, adding that she received the news of the death with rude shock

“It is with rude shock that I received the… sudden death of our revered father, King, his Royal Majesty, Iku Baba Yeye, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, the Aláàfin of Oyo kingdom. His death has come as a rude shock and we pray that the Almighty God will continue to grant him eternal peace”, she wrote.

Penpushing further reports that Iyalode pointed out that the late monarch who reigned over five decades made impact as a historian of Yoruba race and of note,and will be missed as a great historian

“Baba Aláàfin of Ọ̀yọ́, Ikú Baba Yeye has been a king for over 5 decades and he has made his impact as a historian of Yoruba legacies. We have missed a great historian that will talk without even looking into books and quote without looking into books, a great man of vision who has left his impacts in the sand of time in the whole, entire Yoruba race, the nation at large and the whole world. We are going to miss him and I pray that his soul will rest in perfect peace”, Lawson emphasized.

Penpushing reports that, she prayed for the soul of the foremost traditional ruler to rest in perfect peace, and for the entire family,the Oyomesi fortitude, to bear the great loss

“And as he joined his ancestors, may Jehovah God grant the whole entire family, entire Lamidi Adeyemi’s family, the fortitude to bear this great loss, the whole Oyomesis, to enable them to bear this great loss, the sudden loss of Kabiyesi, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, the Aláàfin of Oyo kingdom, Iku Baba Yeye.

Baba, Adieu, Adieu, Adieu. You will be sadly and greatly missed”, Lawson said.

The Iyalode in the same vein, commiserated with the Oyo State Government, the entire Yoruba race, stressing that there was need to continued with legacies he left behind

“I now commiserate with the Executive Governor of Oyo State, on the death of Kabiyesi, Aláàfin of Oyo, the whole of Oyo State and the whole of entire Oodua kingdom, Baba will be sorely missed but believe that his legacies that he has left would be continued. God bless us all”,Lawson emphasized
