The Vice-President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo has denied his convoy involvement in road accident on Monday while on his way to Owo in Ondo state to commiserate with the government and people of the state, over the gruesome murder of number of worshippers by gunmen during a church service on Sunday.

Penpushing reports that, Osinbajo in reaction to the purported accident, clarified in a tweet that, contrary to the fake news, his convoy met a road accident and ensured victims were taken to the hospital in his convoy before heading to the airport in Abuja.

The statement by his media aide, Laolu Akande, explained that the Vice President on his way to the airport for onward journey to Owo town, came across a road crash, and had to stop to lend assistance to the victims

“On his way to the airport this morning, VP came across a road traffic accident, stopped to lend assistance, and ensured (the) victim was taken to the hospital with VP’s convoy ambulance. He then proceeded on his trip and is now in Ondo State heading to (the) site of yesterday’s attack in Owo’, Akande clarified.

Penpushing further reports that, Akande said the Vice President was on his way  to deliver the presidency’s condolences to the victims of Sunday’s mass killing of worshippers at a Catholic Church in the ancient town.

“The VP heads out to Owo, (Ondo State this morning) where worshippers were heinously attacked yesterday resulting in many casualties. He will deliver (the) president’s condolences and message in person”, Akande added.

Penpushing also reports that, it is recalled that, gunmen were said to have invaded  the church and  starting shooting indiscriminately  at worshippers, resulting in death of  number of casualties  yet to be ascertained as at the time of this report.

The Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, had earlier terminated his trip to participate at the All Progressives Congress(APC) national assignment in Abuja, to attend to the massacre, with assurance that government will uncover the  perpetrators and  be brought to book.

Penpushing reports that, the Chairman Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN), Ondo State Chapter, Pastor Anselm Ologunwa in reaction to the incident, described the act as barbaric, wicked and the highest criminality everybody should rise and condemn in the society.

“The killing of some innocent souls in the name of whichever guise is the highest criminality everybody should rise and condemn in our society. How can some people just wake up from nowhere and decide to kill their fellow men unjustly without any recourse to the judgement of God.”
