A 27-year old kidnapping suspect Abdullahi Adamu has disclosed that his criminal journey into kidnapping was the fallout of killing of his father by armed robbers and blamed his ordeal on destiny which is not favourable to him.
Penpushing reports that Adamu, who claimed to be fatherless made the confession on Monday while been paraded after his arrest by the officials of the Ondo State Security Network (Amotekun) in Akure, the State Capital.
The suspect who joined eight gang members to allegedly kidnap two farmers in Akunu Akoko, in Akoko North West Local Government Area of the State, said he was arrested during his first kidnapping attempt.
Penpushing further reports that Adamu who spoke in Hausa through an interpreter was captured alongside other suspects while allegedly trying to collect ransom from officials of Amotekun who disguised as members of the victims’ families.
The Kastina state born suspect confessed that he joined a gang of kidnappers led by one Dogo, who is now at large,to make ends meet, stressing that the gang last week’s attempt at making money from kidnapping was his first.
Penpushing also reports that the Corps Commander of Amotekun, Adetunji Adeleye, while narrating how the suspects were arrested, explained that his officials arrested three of the suspects while disguised as family members going to pay ransom to the kidnappers.
The Corps Commander added that the earlier arrested three suspects thereafter led the Amotekun officials to the others where they were holding their victims, stressing the kidnapping was immediately foiled
Penpushing reports that the Commander of the Security Network (Amotekun) also said the agency, in collaboration with other security agencies, is working to flush out criminal elements from forest reserves in the state.
The Amotekun Commander stated that the suspects would soon be arraigned in court, emphasizing that the agency will not rest on its oars, in ensuring to give good fight and apprehend criminals in the state and environs
Penpushing further reports that one of the victims, Bello Audu, while narrating his ordeal in the hands of the abductors explained that he was in his house penultimate Friday evening when the kidnappers struck.
‘Six of them came into my house, ordered me out of the house and walked me into the bush. They were also beating me as they were leading me away. I spent five days in the forest with them and was give no food during the period’, he narrated
