The Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing has publicly tendered a public apology to the leadership of Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) over her misconduct during the trial of the convicted Baba Ijesa for defiling a minor.

Penpushing reports that it is recalled that on May 2021 the actress engaged one of her colleagues Lege Maimi in social media spat which resulted in a suspension from the umbrella body of Yoruba actors and filmmakers in Nigeria

The Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) thereafter suspended the duo indefinitely from appearing on Yoruba movie sets following their heated verbal exchange on Instagram.

Penpushing further reports Blessing alongside Iyabo Ojo verbally criticised Baba Ijesha for defiling comedian Princess’s daughter, and in response, veteran actor Jide Kosoko barred Directors from working with Blessing and Iyabo Ojo, prompting her (Blessing) to mock the association’s decision.

The Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) after the suspension order, Lege Maimi appealed her suspension in a one-minute video saying she was sorry, but Blessing, in defiance, renounced her association with the body via an Instagram video.

Penpushing also reports that in the Instagram video, she questioned the rationale behind her suspension and criticised the association, arguing that the leadership made error to have announced her suspension on social media

“It came as a shock to me because usually, in an organised organisation, you’re not supposed to serve anybody a letter on social media. I did not join the industry through social media; that is the number one error they wrote to themselves, not to me. We all have the right to express our opinions on our platforms. How can you suspend me when I’ve never been a part of your association or attended your meetings?” she said.

“You claim I’m one of your members in your association, you didn’t call me, you didn’t send a text, you didn’t send an email. You didn’t try contacting me in any way, and you put up whatever you put up on Instagram without even tagging me; some other person sent it to me; who does that?’ she argued

Penpushing reports that the suspended actress, who started her movie career in 2008 and produced her first movie, Omoge Lekki, in 2015, however, retraced her step at the Celebrities Entertainment Awards in Canada on Sunday, and openly tendered apology to the association.

The actress knelt on stage with a microphone, offering a heartfelt apology amidst tear to the President of the association, Bolaji Amusan, popularly called Mr Latin, admitting that the association made her and have been missing the industry

“I’m so sorry for all that I did. I’m begging from the bottom of my heart that I miss the industry. You all made me who I am today. I am being celebrated all over the world because of you. Please, I’m sorry’, he begged profusely

Penpushing further reports that Latin in response acknowledged apology of the actress who has appeared in several movies, including Fate of Alakada, Tanwa Savage, Breaded Life, City Hustlers, and Ada Omo Daddy, and therefore forgave her, while Odunlade Adekola praised her for apologizing, bringing a sense of resolution to the situation
