The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has again accused his predecessor, Gboyega Oyetola  of illegally taking away vehicles worth N2.9billion after completing his tenure in office, and ordered that the said vehicles should be returned.

Penpushing reports that, the Governor in a statement by his media aide, Olawale Rasheem also alleged the wife of the former Governor, Kafayat Oyetola, and former aides of the former Governor of being part of the illegal acquisition of the vehicles

The statement put the number of the vehicles at eleven explaining that the government’s decision was taken by an asset recovery panel set up by the new Governor, and has directed that Oyetola and others alleged should return those vehicles

‘The Assets Recovery Panel of the Osun State Government has directed former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, his wife, Hajia Kafayat Oyetola and other former appointees to immediately return assorted vehicles valued at N2.9 billion presently illegally in their possession. As at today, there is no law that authorised any elected or appointed officials to go with state vehicles after completing their tenure of office”,the statement reads]

Penpushing further reports that, as at the time of filing this report, the former Governor was yet to react to the claims of the state government, while it is on record that since inauguration of Adeleke he has, repeatedly accused Oyetola of impropriety and has reversed some of the actions the latter took as Governor.

The immediate past Governor under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) , it is recalled  lost his bid for re-election, while  Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP),won at the poll which produced him as the incumbent.

Penpushing also reports that, Oyetola and All Progressives Congress (APC) have since challenged the victory of Adeleke at the election tribunal, while the case is ongoing at the court as at the time of filing this report.
