The General Overseer of Victory Life Bible Church (VLBC), Apostle Lawrence Achudume on Monday reflected on the demise of his wife, which occurred on August 3, 2024, precisely two years ago, an incident which he said almost caused him to derail from reading the Scriptures for a period.
Penpushing reports that Achudume gave an emotional account of life since the passing of his wife, at a candlelight procession marking the second remembrance anniversary of Reverend Fola Achudume, fondly known as RFA.
The clergyman disclosed that before attending the second leg of the remembrance activities following Sunday’s thanksgiving service at the headquarters of the church, he visited the room she breathed her last.
Penpushing further reports that Achudume in one of the most emotional moments of the service, spoke as though addressing his late wife directly, recalling that before final passage of his wife, he begged her not to go, admitting that the pain remained
“I begged her, ‘Don’t go… don’t go. I couldn’t pray. God took away the breath of prayer. I couldn’t read my Bible. If I begin to tell you about the process, many would not believe,” he said.
“I asked myself, ‘If RFA were here today, what type of clothes would I wear to church for this thanksgiving?’ That was why I decided to put on this white native dress. Don’t think I’m a spirit. Sometimes I still want to break down. But God is faithful. RFA, you didn’t do well o. It was so bad… and it is still bad. But God is faithful’, he said
Penpushing also reports that family members, ministers of the Gospel, friends and admirers gathered at the event in remembrance of the deceased, while the programme featured hymns, prayers, tributes, testimonies and the presentation of an educational empowerment package in honour of the late cleric, whose life of faith, compassion and selfless service was celebrated by worshippers.

Penpushing reports that the Royal Ladies led the thanksgiving session, and were joined by members of Victory Life Bible Church International and other worshippers in celebrating the deceased life and legacy.
The General Overseer of Faith and Miracle Church, Abeokuta Rev. Femi Adesina delivering the memorial message at the Monday’s candlelight procession urged Christians to build legacies of faithful service that would continue to speak long after they were gone.
Penpushing further reports that Adesina preaching from 2 Kings 19, recalled God’s promise to defend Jerusalem because of His servant David, explaining that although David had long died, God continued to honour him because of his unwavering devotion.
“I will defend this city and save it for My own sake and for My servant David’s sake. What will God remember you for? It is not how long one lives but how well one lives. Mama lived well. When people gather after your departure, they will not remember your houses, your cars or the money in your account. They will remember the lives you touched and your service to God.”
Penpushing also reports that he added that every believer has two eternal responsibilities: to love God wholeheartedly and to love one’s neighbour, stressing that faithful service to God and humanity remains the only legacy that outlives death.
The Assistant General Overseer of Victory Life Bible Church International, Rev. Adeoye Adeyanju in his remarks, urged members of the church to preserve Achudume’s legacy by emulating her unwavering devotion to God, passion for souls and commitment to serving humanity.

Penpushing reports that one of the highlights of the event was the presentation of an educational empowerment package to the sole beneficiary of the RFA Educational Empowerment Initiative, Olatinko Imo.
The presentation of the educational empowerment package was done by, Pastor (Mrs). Funke Adeyanju who pointed out that the initiative was a continuation of Reverend Achudume’s passion for educational support and raising lives.
Penpushing further reports that Adeyanju explained that if the late reverend was alive, that was exactly what she would have done, expressing optimism that her legacy lives on forever.
Meanwhile, many worshippers took turns to testify to the impact of Reverend Achudume’s life, describing her as a devoted servant of God, teacher of the word, mentor, prayer warrior and compassionate mother whose ministry continues to inspire believers across generations.
