The screening committee of the chairmanship aspirants under the platform of All Progressives Congress(APC) in Obafemi-Owode local government area of Ogun State has faulted move by those suspected as behind social media write-up to  rubbish its report.

Penpushing reports that the committee secretary, Clement Adeniyi in a reaction to the suspected sponsored social media message, said such move was to tarnish the image of the committee, which it said it holds no water.

‘Our attention has been drawn to a libelous story written and posted on different social media platforms by one Comr Samson Adekunle from Asipa Village of Obafemi Owode Local Government, where the All Progressives Congress, (APC) Obafemi Owode Local Government Chairmanship Screening Committee headed by our leader, Chief Kola Sorinola was indicted in order to drag the screening Committee Chairman, the entire members of the committee and the committee’s report through the mud’.

The statement added that, the arrowhead of the mischief was a faceless person, stressing that the story was mischievous and an attempt to mislead the general public against the screening committee and the good work of the committee.

‘We wish to state, it’s obvious and evident that the writer of this misleading story did not research the power and responsibilities of the committee on the screened Chairmanship aspirants before polluting the public with falsehood, erroneous and fallacious claims against the committee and its Chairman’.

‘Hence, we will like to educate him and others who might have believed the falsehood on the responsibilities and power of the Screening Committee. We are local government chairmanship screening committee and not DSS whose functions include: prevention, detection and investigation of criminalities’.

‘Our function is to screen all the aspirants which were 12 in number. We’re according to the party higher authority, to request for the aspirants’ necessary credentials such as: tax clearance certificate , academic certificates, permanent voter’s card, party membership card etc’.

‘As a committee, the party did not authorize us to investigate any aspirant as per the documents presented to us or otherwise. The party will further investigate all aspirants and every document presented’, the statement read.

It is important to categorically state that as the Secretary of the Screening Committee, I did not write any academic institution to investigate the genuinity of academic certificate of any aspirant reason, I was not given such power and authority to do so’,Adeniyi explained.

‘I therefore wish to clear that my name was used by some unscrupulous persons to draft a letter in respect of this, and further used my appellation to make it looks real. Meanwhile, on the 17th May, 2021, the screening committee chairman, Chief Kola Sorinola received a petition and in the presence of the local government party leaders, during a leaders’ meeting held at the Assembly Quarters of the Hon. Member representing the local government state constituency, Hon. Damilola Kayode Soneye’

‘Same day, 17th May, 2021 put a call through the Deputy Registrar of the academic institution to confirm the authenticity of a letter written to the committee in response to the sent letter by these set of people where names and appellation of the screening committee’s secretary were used’.

‘To the surprise of the leaders, the Deputy Registrar when asked by the Committee Chairman Chief Kola Sorinola, if she wrote, signed and sent a letter confirming an aspirant did not graduate from the institution said “No she did not write, sign and send such letter”. This is the length at which the committee can react. Thus, further investigations are left for the party leaders and elders.

‘Having explained all these, the screening committee on behalf of the entire good people of Obafemi Owode Local Government and its environ, advised those who derive joy in politics of bitterness and dirty politics to change their ways and believe in the saying that, ” Que Sera, Sera, Whatever Will Be, Will Be!’

‘We therefore urge members of the public to ignore the mislead and delude story piled up by the faceless Com. Samson Adekunle. As every necessary actions are ongoing to present to the party faithfuls and good  people of the Local government a befitting Local Government Chairmanship Candidate.
