A 46-year-old Point of Sale (POS) Operator Waheed Salako has been sentenced to three months imprisonment by Ota Magistrate Court in Ogun State for obtaining N200,000 under false pretences.
Penpushing reports that the prosecutor E.O. Adaraloye, a Police Inspector during the arraignment told the court that Salako borrowed N200,000 from Waheed Adegun with the agreement to pay back the money which he failed to do.
The prosecutor said the Point of Sale (POS) Operator committed the offences on September 2, 2024, at Idiroko, Sango-Ota, while he(Salako) had earlier pleaded not guilty to the two counts of obtaining money under false pretences and stealing.
Penpushing further reports that Adaraloye informed the court that Salako converted the money borrowed from the complainant to his own use and subsequently ran away instead of refunding the N200,000.
The Magistrate O.O. Fadairo while delivering her judgement, said the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt pointing out that Salako committed the offences he was accused of, but was, however, granted an option of N20,000, and equally ordered him to restitute the N200,000 to the complainant, Waheed Adegun.
