The provision of about 170 cylinders of oxygen in frantic bid to save Prof Femi Odekunle a member of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), from coronavirus complications yielded no results investigations showed.
Penpushing reports that following the gasping for air during his (Odekunle) treatment due to shortages in oxygen supply at the isolation centre at the University Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada in Abuja, donations of cylinders started coming in from friends, associates and family to save his life.
The Professor of criminology battled the highly infectious disease for twelve days, and in frantic bid to save him, his friends, which include top government officials and politicians rallied for oxygen from far and near to support his breathing, but lost the battle for survival on Tuesday at the hospital
Penpushing further reports that, Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital, Dr Bissallah Ekele, admitted there was shortage of oxygen in the facility, a situation he blamed on the recent surge in coronavirus infections officially declared the second wave.
The Chief Medical Director, however, explained that Odekunle died because of the “severity of his infection”, adding that following the shortage of cylinders of oxygen,some individuals and other hospitals came to their aide,adding thereafter the Presidential Task Force on coronavirus waded in and since resolved the shortage problem.
