Advocacy groups organize 3-day capacity building on food fortification in Nigeria

The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) in partnership with Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) have designed a 3-day capacity building on food fortification and workforce nutrition in Nigeria

Penpushing reports that the workshop which is through The Third- Party Advocacy Campaign (TPAC) has media as participants on promoting compliance in food fortification and workforce nutrition in the country.

The capacity building training is scheduled to hold between 4th to 6th July 2023 in Lagos, with deliberate effort from relevant stakeholders to address the fundamental aspects of nutrition among employees and supply chain workers.

Penpushing further reports that it is equally designed to stimulate adequate and timely discharge of the functions of regulatory agencies and other arms of government, stimulate the advocacy for compliance to food fortification in industries and workforce nutrition in Nigeria.

The Third- Party Advocacy Campaign (TPAC) in Nigeria is being implemented by e-Health Africa, Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) and The Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) under the theme ‘Using Evidence to Inspire Action” for Nutrition focused COs and Media representatives in Nigeria towards the promotion of workforce Nutrition in the private sector and increased fortification compliance from food producers.

Penpushing also reports that at the end of the training, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to promote workforce nutrition and increase compliance with Nigeria’s mandatory food fortification policy, and equally gain first-hand experience of how these interventions work in practice and the benefits they offer.

The objectives of the capacity building include to enhance the knowledge, skills, and capacity of Civil Society Organisations and Media in Nigeria to advocate, monitor, and implement effective interventions to address malnutrition.

Penpushing reports that the training will also discuss gaps/challenges around compliance to food fortification and chart a way forward towards improved compliance to food fortification by food producers and drive action by relevant stakeholders to improve fortification compliance and workforce nutrition in Nigeria.
