The controversy within the Ogun State Chapter of African Democratic Congress (ADC) has again reared its ugly head as some concern leaders and stakeholders petitioned the national headquarters of the party alleging Femi Soluade chairman of the party of financial misconduct, abuse of office, and unethical conduct.
Penpushing reports that the petitioners which include Hudu Idris, Ismaila Adejumon, Temitope Adebayo, and Rashidat Yekin, called on leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for an investigation into the alleged crimes.
The petition dated June 20, 2026, addressed to the National Chairman equally accused Soluade of assaulting his deputy, misappropriation and mismanagement of party funds, explaining that the petition is borne out of commitment to the principles of accountability, transparency, justice, discipline, and respect.
“We, the undersigned leaders and stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ogun State Chapter, respectfully write to bring to the attention of the National Leadership a number of serious allegations and concerns regarding the conduct of Otunba Femi Patrick Soluade, who was appointed as Acting Chairman of the party in Ogun State in December 2024 after the voluntary resignation of former acting chairman Itunu Abioro’, the petition read
“This petition is borne out of our commitment to the principles of accountability, transparency, justice, discipline, and respect for the constitution of our great party. We believe that the issues raised herein have become matters of grave concern capable of affecting the unity, credibility, and electoral prospects of the party if not urgently addressed’, it added
“We respectfully request an immediate investigation into allegations surrounding the management and utilization of funds belonging to the Ogun State Chapter of the party’, the petitioners added.
“There are concerns among party leaders and stakeholders regarding the administration of funds lodged in the above account and whether such funds have been managed in accordance with established party procedures and financial regulations. We have also received complaints and allegations from party members regarding inappropriate conduct toward a female aspirant and members of the party’.
“Given the sensitive nature of these allegations, we believe it is necessary for the National Leadership to establish an impartial panel to receive testimonies from affected person and determine the veracity of her claims. We also request a comprehensive audit of all inflows and expenditures associated with the account since the assumption of office by Otunba Femi Patrick Soluade’.
“We are further informed that other authorized signatories to the party account have been removed without due consultation, approval, or authorization from the appropriate organs of the party. Should this allegation be confirmed, such action would amount to a serious breach of internal financial controls and undermine the collective accountability required in the management of party resources’.
“It is alleged that Otunba Femi Patrick Soluade directed several aspirants seeking elective positions under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to make payments into his personal bank account rather than into the official party account designated by the National Secretariat for such transactions’.
‘We are informed that more than ten (10) aspirants may have made payments pursuant to this directive. We respectfully urge the National Leadership to obtain all relevant account mandate documents, signatory change requests, and bank records from Sterling Bank to ascertain the true position of matters’.
‘Several party members have expressed concerns regarding what they describe as a pattern of abuse of office, intimidation, and high-handedness in the administration of party affairs in Ogun State’, the petition emphasised
Penpushing further reports that the stakeholders alleged that the concerns have created divisions within the party and weakened confidence in the state, and therefore called on national headquarters of the party to get to the root of the fraud
‘The party leaders urged the National Chairman and the National Working Committee to constitute an independent investigative panel to examine all allegations contained in the petition, conduct a forensic audit of the Ogun State ADC account domiciled with Sterling Bank, investigate abuse of of office, intimidation, and unethical conduct among others’.
Penpushing also reports that it would be recalled that Soluade was appointed as acting chairman of the party in December 2024, after the voluntary resignation of former acting chairman Itunu Abioro.
