The 1971/1975 set of Saint Peter’s College Old Students Association (SPOSAN) on Saturday converged on the college premises at Olomore, Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital for reunion after decades of leaving school.

Penpushing reports that the event tagged, ‘50+1 Reunion Meeting’ attracted members of the old students’ association, school administrators, teachers and students, creating an atmosphere of joy, reflection and celebration as old classmates reunited after many years.

The National President of the 1971/1975 set Elder Tunde Oyenekan, in his speech expressed appreciation to God and members of the association for the opportunity to witness another reunion celebration in good health.

Penpushing further reports that Oyenekan described the reunion as a moment of thanksgiving and reflection, pointing out that it was a thing of joy for members of the set to come together again after more than 50 years.

The President stated that many challenges had come over the years, but God had remained faithful in preserving the lives of many members of the set, adding that leadership itself is not an easy responsibility, and that serving as president of the association comes with sacrifices, pressures and several challenges.

“Being a president is not easy and leadership generally is not easy because there are many responsibilities and even embarrassment at times, but we thank God for everything’, Oyenekan stated.

Penpushing also reports that, the President, however, appreciated members of the set for maintaining unity and friendship despite the passage of time, stressing that the reunion served as an avenue to reconnect, share memories and encourage one another.

The National President remembered members of the association who had passed away, pointing out that their absence was deeply felt during the gathering, however, noted the need to give glory to God.

“We give glory to God for keeping us alive till this moment even though some of our members are no more. We are grateful for life and for the opportunity to gather together again,” he added.

‎Penpushing reports that, Mrs. Florence Adeogun, who is the Senior School Principal of the college welcomed the old students back to their alma mater and expressed happiness over their visit to the school.

The Principal thanked God for the success of the reunion programme and offered prayers for the members of the association, asking for continued strength, good health and long life for them.

Penpushing further reports that Adeogun commended the old students for maintaining a strong relationship with the institution many years after graduation, describing their presence as an encouragement to the younger generation.

The Principal of the Junior School, Mr. Olumide Ajasa, in his own contributions described the reunion as a great achievement and a privilege for members of the set to witness after several decades.

Penpushing also reports that Ajasa urged the old students to take a second look at the school and reflect on its present condition compared to what it used to be during their days as students of the institution, stressing that such reflection could inspire efforts towards supporting the development and progress of the college.

“There should be a second look at the school, what it used to be and what it is now. Coming back to your alma mater should also encourage efforts towards improving the school’, Ajasa said.

Penpushing reports that, Deacon ‘Dara Adebimpe, one of the members of the set delivered a motivational talk to students on the topic, “Time is Life’, describing time as one of the most valuable gifts anyone could have, noting that once time is lost, it can never be recovered.

The old student encouraged the students to make wise use of the opportunities before them and remain committed to their academic pursuits, pointing out that the period students spend in school plays a major role in shaping their future and should not be wasted on unproductive activities.

“Time is an irreplaceable commodity. Make use of the time available to you now because the opportunity you have today may not come again. Focus on your studies and build a better future for yourselves;, he advised.

Penpushing further reports that the event featured moments of interaction among members of the old students’ association, words of encouragement to students and prayers for the continued growth of Saint Peter’s College.
