The Board of ANOH Gas Processing Company (AGPC) has appointed Mr. James Makinde as the Managing Director of the company following the statutory retirement of Engr. Effiong Okon, effective April 20, 2026.
Penpushing reports that Makinde until his appointment was the General Manager for Gas Business at Seplat Energy Plc. AGPC is an NNPC Limited–SEPLAT Energy Incorporated JV, and the operator of the flagship 300mmscfd ANOH gas plant.
The appointee is an industry professional with expertise in commercial deal delivery and project management and has worked in roles that included project management, asset management, gas market development, gas commercialisation, gas-to-power solution development, renewable energy, investment and portfolio management, and strategy development.
Penpushing further reports that, Makinde before joining Seplat, had over 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, mostly spent with different Shell companies in Nigeria, while his last role at Shell was as the West Africa Business Development Manager at Shell New Energies (now called Emerging Market Power), where he was part of the team that drove Shell’s investment in renewable and power businesses in Africa.
The new General Manager is a respected voice in the industry and a keen contributor to Nigeria gas sector, and was the Chairman of the Oil Producers Trade Sector (OPTS) gas sub-committee, and a Non-Executive Director of the Gas Aggregator Company of Nigeria (GACN).
Penpushing also reports that Makinde holds an MBA from Alliance Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, United Kingdom, and an MSc in Offshore and Ocean Technology, Subsea Pipelines Engineering Specialisation, from Cranfield University, United Kingdom.
