The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has invited 286,697 applicants to sit a computer-based test for 3,927 following recruitment exercise, which was formally advertised on December 27 2024, and attracted 573,523 applications during its first phase.

Penpushing reports that National Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Customs Service(NCS), Abdullahi Maiwada made this known in a statement on Wednesday via official X account, explaining that after a rigorous documentary scrutiny, 286,697 candidates were invited to proceed to the next phase

“After a rigorous documentary scrutiny, 286,697 candidates were invited to proceed to the next phase. The second stage of the exercise, scheduled to take place from September 14th to 21st, 2025, will be conducted through an online Computer-Based Test (CBT)’, he wrote

Penpushing further reports that Maiwada explained that shortlisted candidates may take the test from any location with reliable internet access, but must use a laptop or desktop computer with a webcam and full-screen display.

The statement stated that the platform is not mobile-phone enabled, adding that a facial-verification check will occur at login, and candidates are advised to present themselves neatly to avoid recognition issues.

Penpushing also reports that the authorities warned that the CBT application is sensitive to noise and body movement, and excessive movement, whispering or background distractions can trigger an automatic logout.

The statement emphasized that customs advised candidates to avoid switching between windows during the test, as such actions will be flagged as malpractice and may lead to disqualification.”

Penpushing reports that Maiwads stated that to help candidates familiarise themselves with the system, the Service will run a mandatory pre-test exercise two days before the actual CBT,stressing that shortlisted applicants will receive two separate links (one for pre-test, one for the real exam).

“Candidates who applied for the Superintendent Cadre (Level 8) should note that they will be invited for an additional CBT in the next phase of the recruitment exercise. This provision does not apply to the Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres,” the statement added.

Penpushing further reports that thee Nigeria Customs Service(NCS) reiterated that the recruitment process is merit-driven, and urged applicants to rely only on the Service’s official communication channels for updates.
