A former spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 elections, has Segun Sowunmi has explained that he visited President Bola Tinubu because he (Tinubu) is smarter than his opponents and ready to work with him

Penpushing reports that Showunmi, a fierce critic of the President until very recently made this known on his social media handle, stressing that the meeting was engaging and nostalgic, after he spent part of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations with Tinubu in Lagos.

The chieftain of the opposition party, whose sudden romance with Tinubu has since sparked reactions, emphasized that he visited Tinubu for three reasons because of the faltering democracy which he (Sowunmi) said was not his Tinubu’s fault.

Penpushing further reports that he equally said he began to be a little bit uncomfortable with demonising all policies by those who don’t understand what it takes to design futuristic ideas that could work.

The former aide to Atiku added that other reason was to engage Tinubu, stating that despite Tinubu’s frailty, his brain is very alert, noting that he answered all his questions without looking at any book.

Penpushing also reports that he said the president was psychologically and mentally alert during his visit, declaring that even as a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member, he was ready to dump his party to work with Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.

The Egba born politician, however, pointed out that if he were appointed to any position by Tinubu, he would leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), just as he nullified the believe that he had betrayed Atiku

Penpushing reports that Showunmi in his argument, said Atiku was running a coalition he(Showunmi) was not part of, stressing that it is wrong if people think he doesn’t have his individuality

“Is he (Atiku) running for president now? He’s running a coalition that everybody knows I am not part of. Who would even in your wildest dreams think I don’t have my individuality because of what? Do you know how long I have been at the party?” he asked.
