The indigenes of Imala town located in Abeokuta North local government area of Ogun State have raised alarm that Governor Dapo Abiodun was mis-informed about true identity of Phillip Ogunsola who was illegally installed as coronet Oba of Olorunda community.

Penpushing reports that Omola of Imala, Oba (Apostle) Adelani Olabode made this known at a press conference held in his palace, arguing that the purported installation of Ogunsola was erroneously carried out by government officials having deceived the Governor to approve such.

The monarch explained that there is a standing order from the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in a letter with reference number CHM1/47/T6/246 dated July, 2015 which warned Ogunsola not to parade himself as traditional ruler.

Penpushing further reports that the monarch whose jurisdiction oversee Olorunda and neighbouring villages disclosed that Ogunsola was among coronet Obas whose appointment were revoked by the Ogun State Government.

The royal father accompanied by his chiefs at the press conference explained that the revocation letter forwarded to Ogunsola which was equally acknowledged by him was with reference number CHM.2/103/1 and dated March 16, 2020

‘You are hereby notified that your appointment as Olu of Olorunda has been revoked. In view of this, please be advised that the use of the title of Oba and other privileges previously enjoyed by you cease forthwith’, the letter reads

Penpushing also reports that he explained that the approved Baale for Olorunda community by the council of chiefs is Sabiu AAdegbola, who was unanimously ratified with one voice, stressing that Ogunsola who was parading himself as such was a persona-non-grata

The monarch in another claim to fault the controversial inauguration of Ogunsola recalled that the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in a letter reference number CHM1/47/T6/246 warned him to desist from parading himself as Baale or use any paraphernalia of the office, henceforth

‘It has just come to the notice of the State Government that you have been parading yourself as Baale of Olorunda even to the extent of erecting a signpost of Baale of Olorunda. This action of yours is considered a violation of the relevant provision of the Chiefs Law and the enabling circular letter number CHM.10/127/Vol 1V/T1 of 9th May, 2012’, the warning letter reads

Penpushing reports that the community said with all the documented information about illegality of Ogunsola, it was amazing that he was still installed last Saturday by some officials of the government at a ceremony closely held inside the premises of Ogunsola.

The Omola of Imala said following findings conducted by the community, it was discovered that some elements within the government had deceived the Governor to give such approval, stressing that the community is using the media to draw attention of the Governor to the lapses.

Penpushing further reports that the traditional ruler of Imala, in view of this appeal to the Governor to review the controversial installation, and need to reverse the decision, insisting that Ogunsola is not a Bonafide son of Olorunda

‘We are aware from findings that some elements conniving with Ogunsola and his cohorts may have deceived the Governor, and hide the truth about the whole scenario regarding the false identity of Ogunsola, who is not a bonafide son of Olorunda’, he stated

Penpushing also reports that the community insisted that Ogunsola is not a Bonafide son of Olorunda, adding that his forefathers were visitors in the community and having spent years with them, a land was allocated to him to build a house.

The monarch said it was on this basis that Ogunsola was trying to force himself as indigene of the community, and now trying to claim the obaship position which was never the right of his family
