A suspected thief has invaded the Awolowo hall of the University of Ibadan (UI),Ibadan, Oyo State Capital demanding laptops from the students, a development which led to raising of alarm, while the thief subsequently fled the scene.
Penpushing reports that the Director of Public Relations, of the university Joke Akinpelu, confirmed the incident adding that the incident occurred the early hours of Saturday, explaining that the thief entered only two rooms and stole two mobile phones.
The Director of Public Relations said the victims unsuspectingly left their doors open to either use the toilet or wash plates when the thief followed them in to pick up their phones, stressing that following the ugly development the at the management has beefed up security.
Penpushing further reports that Akinpelu as at the time of filing this report said the police had been informed and were investigating the case, adding that the thief asked whether the residents had laptops, but they said no, and when an alarm was raised, he fled.
