The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Ogun State Hon. Adijat Adeleye, has reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to women empowerment, child protection, as well as social development programmes, aligning with the ISEYA mantra of Prince Dapo Abiodun’s administration.

Penpushing reports that Adeleye stated this at the maiden annual lecture, New Year prayer and award ceremony of the Ministry in Abeokuta, stressing that the commitment was to build a just society,

The female commission pointed out that the achievements recorded in year 2024 was due to the unwavering support of Prince Dapo Abiodun administration’s commitment to the welfare and well-being of its citizenry.

‘’As we look back on 2024, we recognise that our achievements were made possible through collaborative efforts and visionary leadership. I must begin by expressing my heartfelt gratitude to our dear Governor, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, his unwavering support, progressive policies’.

‘And strategic leadership have been the fertile ground on which this Ministry has thrived. We are grateful for his steadfast commitment to women’s empowerment and social justice, which continues to transform lives across the Gateway State,’’ she stated.

Penpushing further reports that Adeleye appreciated the support of development partners, particularly the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and Ogun State Transformation Projects (OGSTEP) whose contributions had not only expanded the Ministry’s reach but have also brought valuable expertise and resources that enriched staffers’ initiatives.

The former member of the Ogun State House of Assembly urged staffers to utilise knowledge gained, for effective service delivery, adding that officers should brainstorm on actionable strategies that would guide government policies and initiatives.

Penpushing also reports that the Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Affairs, Mrs. Ayotunde Olanbiwonninu and the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Adejumoke Adewole, in their remarks charged officers to reflect on the past achievements, seek strength, dedication, commitment to empowering women and advancing social welfare.

The guest lecturer Alhaja Selimot Otun, who is former Head of Service of Ogun State in her lecture titled ‘’Roles of Social Worker’’ emphasised that a social worker must aim to improve the well-being and quality of life of individuals, families, and communities.

Penpushing reports that she noted that they should employ the principles of empathy to understand and share the feelings of their clients, have compassion to provide care and support to vulnerable populations, advocate and ensure justice, to promote fairness, equality, and human rights without being sentimental about issues.

The Permanent Secretary, Bureau Of Public Service Reforms, Mr. Jola Oyeneye and the Director of Administration and Supplies, Bureau of  Government House and General Services, Mr. Dolamu Idowu- Agida in their lectures titled,  ‘’Bureaucracy and Service Delivery, The Public Service Way and Role of Support Staff in Effective Service Delivery’’, said there was need to encourage innovation in public service to improve efficiency and effectiveness, while encouraging more training to develop the growth mindset for effective service delivery.

Penpushing further reports that in their remarks, Social Welfare Officers, Mr. Lateef Oladipo and Mrs. Olayinka Basirat, appreciated the management of the Ministry for giving them the opportunity to relearn, stating that lessons taught and learnt would build capacity and competency for improved professionalism.

Meanwhile, highlights of the event were presentation of awards to most punctual, well dressed, hardworking officers, among others.
