A middle-aged man Lamidi Bashir has dragged his wife, Khadijat to a Customary Court in Ake, Ogun state accusing her of being disrespectful and nonchalant, and therefore prayed the court for a divorce, as he was no more interested in the marriage.
Penpushing reports that divorce seeking husband told the court that he had severally reported her to her family but remained adamant on her disrespectful behaviour, and therefore, he is fed up with her, as the man equally begged the court to order her not to even near his work place
“I do not want to see her anymore near me, my home, at my place of work and near my children. We live together as husband and wife, and she has been very disrespectful and behaves nonchalantly. I have reported her severally to her family and she has refused to change. I brought her down to court so the court can make a decision” he said
Penpushing further reports that the wife, Mrs Khadijat Lamidi on her own part declared that, the husband claim that he was no more interested in the marriage was because he was planning to take a new wife.
The woman told the court that she had no issue with her husband having another wife, hence, she was not interested in the divorce, mostly importantly because of their children and their future, adding that she was aware that her husband had been having affairs with the said woman for over three years.
“I refuse to get divorced with him; I am worried about the future of our kids. We have four children and we have been married for more than 14 years. He is not interested in me anymore because he is having an affair with another woman and that has been going on for 3 years. I am not against him getting married to another woman but he should not divorce me because he wants to get married to someone else” she emphasized.
Penpushing also reports that the President of the court A.O Abimbola in his ruling advised the couple to explore settlement, and thereafter adjourned the case until November 11, 2024 for hearing.
