The Nigerian female soccer squad Super Falcons, have on Tuesday booked their ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics at the end of a tension-soaked goalless draw against South Africa’s Banyana Banyana in Pretoria.

Penpushing reports that it will be recalled that the Super Falcons have earlier secured a 1-0 victory in the first leg in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and this paved way to the Nigerian team return to the Olympic stage for the first time in 16 years.

The last time the Nigerian female soccer team participated in the the Olympics was in Beijing 2008, while on the Tuesday encounter the South Africans from the commencement of the game did everything possible to overturn their earlier defeat.

Penpushing further reports that, the Super Falcons defence remained resolute, as the goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie was up to the task in defending the net, while at the second half of the match Nnadozie was equally in form denying Banyana Banyana on multiple occasions.

The Nigeria’s goalkeeper in the 70th minute, made a spectacular and superlative save to palm away a powerful shot from Cesane, and moments thereafter, thwarted Magaia’s effort, while the Nigerian team on the other hand, struggled to create clear-cut opportunities in the second half.

Penpushing also reports that the team had a few chances in the first half, with Uchenna Kanu missing a golden opportunity to put them ahead, and despite the pressure, the Super Falcons held on to secure a historic qualification that will see them challenging for honours in Paris after a brilliant outing at the recent Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
