The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, Wednesday declared that he engaged in fight with his successor and former ally, Governor Siminalayi Fubara for hobnobbing with his political adversaries.
Penpushing reports that Wike made this known after a meeting with some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors in Abuja, argued that it was absurd having worked with people for victory for Fubara, and end up bringing enemies.
“You cannot work, and people will begin to bring enemies; those who fought you when you were struggling for the person to be in office. Nobody does that. I am not a political ingrate but don’t touch the political structure of the state. I will not shut my eyes’, Wike said.
Penpushing further reports the known controversial former Governor, however, denied that he was seeking financial gratification from his successor, suggested that Fubara was trying to take control of the PDP structure in Rivers.
The crisis between Wike and Fubara got worsen this week when the Rivers State House of Assembly attempted to commence impeachment proceedings against the Governor who later spoke on the rift he described as father and son problem which will be resolved soon.
Penpushing also reports Fubara made the explanation on Wednesday when he received a military delegation led by the Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
The Governor in a video clip uploaded on Facebook said there was nothing wrong for a father and a son to have problems, apparently referring to the rift between him and Wike, who helped to install him as Governor.
‘For our dear state, I know everybody is wondering what’s going on and what’s not going on. We are okay; there is no problem, If we have an internal issue, it will be resolved and everything will go back to normal. There is nothing wrong if a father and a son have a problem, if there is any problem, but I don’t think there is anything; whatever it is, we will definitely resolve the issue’, Fubara added.
Penpushing reports that Wike it is recalled had earlier on Tuesday said the political crisis in the state is a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s affairs and not an ethnic crisis, assuring that the party was looking into it.
‘It is a party affair, (the) party knows how to resolve their own…. It is not an ethnic affair. Our party is looking into it. That is what I will say. Every politician has his own interest’, the controversial politician emphasized.
