A former Deputy Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, (MAPOLY) Abeokuta, Lekan Famuyiwa, popularly called ‘Baba Fancy” has been reportedly dead in sleep at his private residence in Onikolobo area of Abeokuta.
Penpushing reports that Famuyiwa who was 72 year old on July 17, 2023 was said to have gone to bed for a siesta after his lunch, but later found dead, when checked on few hours after, but unknown to the family, was rushed to Redwood Hospital located in Government Reservation Area(GRA), Ibara in the town.
The hospital management on check discovered that Baba Fancy, father of four children all resident abroad, with all of them doing well in their various chosen profession, was brought in dead, while his body was thereafter deposited in a morgue
Penpushing further reports that the deceased was a lecturer of Mathematics and Statistics in department of Science and Laboratory Technology, from where he was deployed to Department of General Studies, where he became Head of Department and later Director School of Communication and Information Technology.
The late lecturer was later Director of Students Affairs and rose to become Deputy Rector of the institution, and was Pioneer Chairman Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP), Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY)Abeokuta and founding member Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP) in Nigeria
Penpushing also reports that as at the time of filing this report, the family had commenced meeting towards a befitting burial ceremony for the man known to be household name in the institution, particularly among the students, and was also a prominent member of a famous social organization, Abeokuta Club
