The Minister of Information, Alhaji Mohammed Idris Malagi has called on Media practitioners to collaborate with his Ministry and the government for the betterment of society, emphasizing on the role of the role of online publishers in media world.
Penpushing reports that Malagi made the call on Tuesday while receiving Executive Committee members of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), led by its President, Maureen Chigbo, in Abuja.
The Minister urged online publishers to always endeavour to cross-check information before publishing, urging media practitioners generally to take pride in the fact that they have their representative as part of government.
Penpushing further reports that Malagi said the president appointed him as one of them, stressing that the interest of the media is his interest and called on the media to take interest in his affairs as well, pointing out that practitioners should endeavour to partner with government for the collective good of all.
The Minister who thanked the body for the visit urged professionals to focus on the positive things happening across Nigeria, emphasizing that in his view, there are many positive things happening in Nigeria that are largely unreported, adding that he has been an keen, silent follower of Guild of Corporate Online Publishers( GOCOP) activities for years.
Penpushing also reports that President of Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) Maureen Chigbo earlier in her speech, congratulated the Minister on his appointment., and used the opportunity to inform him that the body will be holding its 7th Annual Conference in Abuja on 5th October 2023 at the Abuja Continental Hotel, and urged him to be a key partner.
Meanwhile members of the corporate organization present at the meeting included Mr Dotun Oladipo, immediate Past President, Danlami Nmodu, Deputy President, Ken Ugbeche Vice Pesident (South), Tom Chiahemen, Vice President (North), Collins Edomaruse, General Secretary and Tajudeen Kareem, Abuja-based member.
