The first batch of 274 Nigerians fleeing the crisis in Sudan have arrived Abuja, Federal Capital Territory(FCT)
Penpushing reports that the evacuees arrived in an aeroplane owned by Air Peace, which conveyed them from Aswan in Egypt to their country and landed at the Azikwe international airport Wednesday midnight.
The Nigerians it is recalled were conveyed by bus from the Warton Sudan to Egypt where they were expected to be airlifted to Nigeria but encountered some logistics and diplomatic challenges.
Penpushing further reports that a total of 5,500 Nigerians are expected to benefit from the evacuation, while as at the time of filing this report, Chairperson Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa said no Nigerian is left in Khartoum.
