The fuel scarcity has gotten worsen on Tuesday across Nigeria, as citizens continued to lament the hardship caused by the scarcity, while businesses and households that depend on generators for power supply groan in darkness.
Penpushing reports that investigation conducted by our reporters across the country showed that motorists needs to que for hours at petrol stations, while findings also revealed that the product now been sold between N260 and N400 per litre.
The investigation equally showed that there is no price regulation, as the management of the various fuel stations determines how much to sell the products to the innocent customers, while in the same vein transport fare is triple of what it used to be.
Penpushing further reports that it is recalled that the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, had earlier claimed that President Muhammadu Buhari did not approve any increase in the price of PMS or any other petroleum product.
The latest findings however, revealed that contrary to the Minister’s claim, the government was said to have quietly approved N185 as the new petrol pump price per litre, and despite the government’s repeated claims it had enough petroleum products in stock, the scarcity has persisted amid poor supply of electricity across the country.
Penpushing also reports that as at the time of this report the black market prices of fuel is between N4000 and N6000 for 10 litres, while Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation(NNPC) retail stations sold the product for N194.
