The popular shopping complex known as Art Deco located in Alekuwodo of Osogbo, Osun State Capital was on Thursday razed by fire, with goods which include furniture materials, interiors, and electronics worth millions of naira destroyed.
Penpushing reports that the early morning which started at about 1am and lasted for hours spread to two other buildings around the area and razed them completely, while the cause of the fire was yet unknown as at time of filing this report
The spokesperson of the Fire Service in Osun State, Ibraheem Adekunle confirmed the incident, while the shop owners and sympathizers were seen expressing grief over the loss of properties to the inferno, as fire fighters later arrived at the scene.
“Goods worth several millions of naira, even billions, were lost to the inferno. We are still there and we are ensuring that the fire would not raze another building. We received a business call around 2 am that fire is razing the building. Immediately, we deployed our men there to control the fire’, he said
