The Child Protection Network (CPN), Ogun State Chapter has democratically elected new officers led by Barrister Adedamola Lapite to run affairs of the organization for a three year term, with a call on the officers to be proactive in carrying out their responsibilities.

Penpushing reports that, the election was conducted by 4-man committee led by Adebayo Fashina, representing Mrs Nike Ajala, Director of Child Development, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.

The election conducted on Friday at the Women Development Centre, Presidential boulevard, Abeokuta, with accredited voters across the state, produced Lapite  of Jehovah Nissi Mission Help Initiate) as the Coordinator.

Penpushing further reports that, Lapite, a lawyer polled 16 votes out of the twenty-five votes casted while his opponent Mr Olumide Igbodipe of the Community Development Initiative (CDI) recorded 9 votes

The election was witnessed by the National Coordinator of the Child Protection Network (CPN), Kunle Sanni, and Mrs Peju Osoba, member of National Trustees, who was the pioneer coordinator of the network in Ogun State.

Penpushing also reports that, members of the electoral committee include:  Adebayo Fashina, representing Mrs Nike Ajala, Director of Child Development, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Sina Adefolahan, Mrs Bolatito Ade-Onojobi and Olaleye Adejumobi of the Nigeria Security Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC

The other elected officers include: Margaret Oviutu(Deputy Coordinator),Similoluwa Adedayo(General Secretary, Olufunke Adu(Assistant Secretary), Akinwande Orekoya(Treasurer),Prof Iyabode Kehinde(Financial Secretary), Olajumoke Fadairo(Legal Adviser), Olufemi Taiwo(Public Relations Officer) and Olayinka Osonuga(Internal Auditor)

Penpushing reports that, earlier in his remarks, National Coordinator of the body, Kunle Sanni called on contestants to work as a team, and should see themselves as champions in the interest of the children, the major reasons for being elected.

The National leader, who was also a former coordinator in Ogun State  called on them, and every other members  of the organization to work towards lifting up the Child Protection Network(CPN), to greater height for the benefits of better society.

Penpushing further reports that, the member board of trustees, in her own remarks, emphasized that, Child Protection Network (CPN) is a unique organization, which was the project of the United (UNICEF), aimed to address the plights of the children across the globe

The national board trustees’ member recalled that, operations of Child Protection Network (CPN), started in 2012, and assigned to respond to issues of child abuse, and other social vices that may be associated to the upbringing of child

Penpushing also reports that, Osoba explained that, Child Protection Network (CPN) is umbrella body of Non-Government Organisations(NGO’s), and enjoined the officers on need to join hands together to take the organization to greater height

The newly elected coordinator in his acceptance speech expressed appreciation to members for believing him, having voted for him to lead, and assured that, he would not ignore his co-contestant in the administration of the network.

‘I will work with my co-contestant. I appreciate all members for believing in me. We have to work together. Child Protection Network is not one person. I will want us to work together. Let us jointly navigate together’, he stated

Penpushing reports that, the coordinator pledged to introduce refresher courses for members, stressing that there was need to learn new things, adding that his administration would also raise board of advisers to guide his team

‘We are going to have refresher courses. We need to learn new things. We shall have board of advisers to help us navigate Child Protection Network to the right path. And we shall make sure we listen, to learn from our leaders knowledge’, Lapite emphasized
