The Ogun State Police Command has vowed to arrest the run-away security operatives involved in the shooting of a motorist in Itori town located in Ewekoro local government along Abeokuta-Lagos expressway.

Penpushing reports that, the Command Public Relations Abimbola Oyeyemi gave the assurance in a statement in reaction to the development, while exonerating policemen from the alleged crime, confirmed that findings showed that, the perpetrators are security operatives still yet to be identified

‘The attention of Ogun state police command has been drawn to various news headlines in both online and print media in respect of the unfortunate incident which happened in Itori area of Ewekoro local government on Monday 27th of June 2022, in which a truck driver was shot by yet to be identified security operatives’.

Penpushing further reports that, Oyeyemi dispelled the rumour that the shot truck driver was dead, explaining that as at the time of filing this report, the victim was receiving treatment in an hospital, while the commissioner of police had visited him.

‘The command, for clarification purpose wishes to state that the perpetrators of the dastardly act though they are security operatives are not policemen, and that the victim contrary to what many news media reported is alive and currently receiving treatment in a hospital’, he added.

‘The commissioner of police, CP Lanre Bankole has visited the victim in the hospital and he has vowed to do everything possible to bring the perpetrators to book within the shortest possible period, because the action is a flagrant display of impunity which has no place in our laws’, Oyeyemi added.

Penpushing also reports that, the statement the command was already on the trail of those security operatives who shot the harmless victim, assuring that their identity will be made known to the public as soon as they were apprehended.
