The plot to hijack the senatorial ticket of the former Chief of State of Governor Dapo of Ogun State, Alhaji Shuaib Salisu by an alleged chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state has hit the rock, following intervention of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.

Penpushing reports that, an exclusive investigation revealed that, contrary to the plot, the National Working Committee in an approved list which contained names of the party senatorial flagbearers nationwide retained the name of Salisu as the authentic senatorial flagbearer of the party for the election to represent Ogun State.

The authenticity of the ticket of the former Chief of Staff was contained in the approval list issued on June 16, 2022, which showed the names of senatorial candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) in all states of the federation

Penpushing further reports that, the 37 page document with caption.’ Senate Primary Election Reports Received’ affirmed that names contained in the list, with Salisu inclusive will be forwarded to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as qualified to represent the party at the poll

The name of Salisu and other candidates as senatorial flagbearers of the three senatorial districts of Ogun State comprising Ogun Central, West and East were conspicuously displayed in the approved list to represent the party at the poll.

Penpushing also reports that, the document showed that, Salisu is to represent Ogun Central Senatorial District, Senator Olamilekan Adeola for Ogun West Senatorial District and Otunba Gbenga Daniel former Governor of Ogun State representing Ogun East Senatorial District during the forthcoming poll.

The document in custody of Penpushing also indicated the names of other candidates to fly the tickets of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in their different senatorial districts of the states, they are to represent

Penpushing reports that, it is recalled that, Salisu had contested the senatorial primary of the party held at Centenary Hall, Ake, Abeokuta, and won the ticket with a margin distance between him and other contestants.

The ticket of Salisu suddenly became attractive to a faction of the party, hence, a power play was introduced, with a frantic move to replace his name for an alleged chieftain of the party, said to be interested to hijack the ticket

Penpushing further reports that, the political maneuver and power game, to substitute Salisu’s name resulted in a meeting where the signal to that effect rear its ugly head, but the meeting was inconclusive, hence, a fresh meeting was said  to have been rescheduled

The latest development with the submission of the National Working Committee((NWC) was said to have served as a relief for the embattled former Chief of Staff, as source revealed that, any further attempt to rob him of his ticket may lead to court action

Penpushing also reports that, the Section. 84 of the Electoral Act 2022 of the   Independent Electoral National Commission (INEC) emphasized that only the names of candidates that emerged from democratic primaries shall be submitted to the Commission.
