Six students of Taidob College – a co educational private secondary school in Abeokuta have secured scholarship to Phd level, having performed excellently at the grand finale of the Beautiful Ones Are Born (BOAB) Competition for public and private schools in Nigeria
Penpushing reports that, at the competition organized by Platform Capital in conjuction with DIATOM Impact, the students displayed excellent academic performances at different stages and contests to clinch the first runner up position, defeating 29 other schools.
The students representing the college at the debate and brought Ogun state to another round of limelight include: Olajide Kikiope,Ojelere Fisayomi, Sobiye Sharon, Omeike Raphel, Alao Elijah and Akinwunmi Joshua who emerged top in Mathematics and Sciences
Penpushing further reports that, the six students came out in flying colours, out of the 180 contestants across the country, at the competition held at the Human Resources Development Centre, University of Lagos State
The brilliant students won the sum of N5million for Taidob College while each of them would also enjoy N1million annual scholarship for their University Education to PhD level.
Penpushing also reports that, the Chairman of Platform Capital, Dr. Akintoye Akindele while congratulating the outstanding students said investing in the children means investing in the future.
The Platform Capital Chairman explained that the competition was designed among others, to inspire and challenge secondary school students as African kings and queens.
Penpushing reports that, the Principal of Taidob College, Mrs. Hope Jiboku in her remarks attributed the award-winning records of the institution to modern teaching aids and infrastructural development as well as committed and dedicated tutors.
The Director of the College, Obawunmi Jiboku expressed the management joy over the resounding feats recorded by the students, and disclosed that, a dinner would be held on Tuesday at the College Auditorium in honour of the brilliant students, teachers and parents, for believing in Taidob College as a citadel of moral and academic excellence.
