Despite strike, University College Hospital Doctors gives free medical check-up to 600 Oyo State residents

The Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) University College Hospital (UCH) chapter, Ibadan in collaboration with Service Pharmaceuticals on Wednesday offered free Health Screening, targeted at about  600 residents of the state

Penpushing reports that the President of the Resident Doctors, Dr Temitope Hussein while speaking with journalists at the event held at Sango Motor Park, Ibadan, stated that the outreach was part of the Doctors cooperate social responsibilities to reach out to their immediate community and see how to help them.

The association boss maintained that the choice of motor parks for the outreach was borne out of importance attached to the health of drivers, adding that appropriate counseling and medications will also be giving to people.

“We targeted about five to six hundred people for the outreach; we will help those who are hypertensive or diabetic and have not been on medication to know what they need to do and also referred them to hospitals if necessary”, he said

Penpushing also reports that, Chairman, Ibadan North Local Government Park Management System (PMS) Alhaji Taofeek Akanni in his remarks described the free medical checkup as a good initiative, adding that it will go a long way in saving peoples life particularly Park Management System (PMS) members.

The Park Management System (PMS) boss pointed out that, everybody wants good health care, but noted that  there is no money due to bad economy situation of the country.

Penpushing also reports that one of the beneficiaries of the medical outreach, Mr. Femi Makinde said  that the outreach will help people to be aware of their health status, adding that it will also reduce death caused by hypertension and diabetics.

Meanwhile, the medical outreach, which was in commemoration with this year  World Heart Day include, free health talk, free blood pressure check, free blood glucose check, free dental check up, and free ECG among others
