A renowned Nigerian cleric, Apostle Lawrence Achudume, who is the General Overseer of Victory Life Bible Church (VLBC) has called on Nigerians on need to respect those in authority to enable them to succeed in the task of governance.

Penpushing reports that, Achudume gave the advice on Saturday at a programme to honour three members of the church, who got elevated in their various professional unions, stressing that the offices  occupied by the leaders deserve respect.

The General Overseer pointed out that those who occupy the offices have become persons of influence whose actions affect people’s lives, and quoted Matthew 13:58 in the Holy Bible that Jesus Christ could not perform great miracles in his hometown because he was not respected by his people.

.Penpushing further reports that, the clergyman noted that this behavioral attitude from the governed  will not bring out the best in those leading the country, stating that rather people will only get the equivalent of what they take their leaders for.

The cleric emphaised that  lack of respect for leaders is a major challenge to the progress of the country and appealed to  Nigerians not to cheapen their leaders and stop the attitude of cursing them or using negative words for them as this will demoralise them from performing well.

Penpushing also reports that, Achudume took time to  advise those in leadership positions not just to be in office, but use their positions to affect lives positively, and equally urged them to be disciplined, trust worthy and good examples that people will look up to for them to succeed in the assignments given to them.

The General Overseer assured that the Church will continue to honour and respect them for their exploits and good representation they gave the church, and equally charged them to continue to keep the flag flying.

Penpushing reports that those honoured  by the church at the breakfast event include  Dr Taiwo Alakija-Aroyeun, Chairperson of the Society of Women Accountants of Nigeria, (SWAN), Abeokuta Chapter, Prof Olubunmi Agbebi, Chairperson of Fisheries Society of Nigeria, (FISON), Ogun State Chapter and Barrister  Kamil Abolade, Chairman Nigeria Bar Association of Nigeria, (NBA) Abeokuta Branch.

Meanwhile, the  honourees described as ‘3 wise men” in their separate remarks appreciated the church and its leadership for the recognition given them, while they also gave assurance that they will not drop the ball and continue to project the image of the church positively.
