The American Government has declared that the detained Nigerian, Abidemi Rufai who is facing $350,000 fraud charges in the county remained a flight risk, hence, he would not be granted bail
Penpushing reports that, the United States Courthouse, in Tacoma, Washington made this known in a ruling, making it clear that, the accused (Rufai) who was a former aide to Governor Dapo Abiodun will remain in custody until his trial
The United States of America (USA). District judge, Benjamin Settle of Tacoma, further ordered that Rufai, who is currently in detention in New York, be moved by federal marshals to Washington for trial slated for August 31.
Penpushing also reports that, the judge agreed with federal prosecutors that the accused poses a a serious flight risk and on-appearance, a decision reached after Acting Attorney, Tessa Gorma, accused Rufai of participating in fraudulent surety scheme
‘The defendant poses a serious risk of non-appearance. No condition or combination of conditions can reasonably assure the defendant’s appearance as required” the court declared
